Oh, Canada! What have you done?

The governments of Canada and British Columbia have chosen to back the interests of two foreign-owned companies with horrific human rights records – Petronas and Royal Dutch Shell – over the rights of indigenous Canadians. By allowing the use of force to remove Wet'suwet'en elders and house members from peaceful occupation of their traditional lands, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier John Horgan have brought shame to Canada. Trudeau's pledge to deal "nation to nation" with Canada's first peoples has been revealed as a lie, as is Canada's representation to the United Nations as a signatory United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
